hormone balancing

Most women experience some sort of symptoms related to hormonal changes. Some include mood changes, cramping, heavy periods, acne, bloating, hot flashes, palpitations, brain fog, fatigue, weight gain.  Likewise, men can experience some of these symptoms as well.  For example, fatigue, brain fog, bloating, and weight gain.  The conventional model for treating hormonal issues ranges from birth control pills, testosterone, to removing parts of the reproductive system.  However, many are looking for more natural ways to balance their hormones. In general, there will always be some symptoms that occur with hormonal changes.  However, you can significantly reduce your symptoms with a holistic health approach.

What are some examples of hormonal imbalances?

Hormone imbalances cause common complaints such as chronic fatigue & stress, adrenal fatigue, thyroid issues, low libido, migraines, insomnia, allergies, cycle irregularities, PMS, fibromyalgia symptoms, autoimmune conditions, chronic vaginal infections, and/or interstitial cystitis.  Hormone Balancing includes adrenals, thyroid, and/or female/male hormones.

Testing to correct hormonal imbalances

There are so many factors to balancing hormones.  Because of this, the clinic recommends testing to figure out where to put your focus for the biggest impact.  For example, comprehensive blood testing can take a snapshot of thyroid, adrenal, reproductive hormones (estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA), insulin resistance, nutrient deficiencies, immune system status.  On the other hand, conventional testing normally only tests TSH, but other tests include free T3, free T4, thyroglobulin and thyroid peroxidase antibodies.  In addition, urine hormone testing (DUTCH) can be done if you are interested in testing adrenal function throughout the day and/or have sleeping issues and want to test for melatonin levels.

Factors we evaluate to develop a customized plan for you:

Foods that Affect Hormones. We may be familiar with certain foods that are more inflammatory for the body.  On the other hand, we may not be aware that there are specific foods that can also affect hormones without causing immediate reactions in the body.

Vitamins, Minerals, Herbs depending on test results or symptoms experiencing. Nutrition is prioritized for a basic foundation.  However, natural supplements for specific concerns is available if interested too.

Reduce Toxin Exposure.  The liver processes all of our hormones.  Therefore, it affects hormones when it is overloaded with toxin exposure.

Organ System Assessment. Evaluate bowels, liver, kidneys, lymphatic system, and circulation imbalances with acupuncture, we can improve the functioning of your body.

Immune System Function. Frequent infections can weaken your adrenals, taking away resources for hormone production.  Therefore, you can do blood testing for immune system status.

Stress. Acupuncture releases stress from the body.   That way, more resources are dedicated to hormone production versus stress hormone production.
